Moria, Moria, wonder of the northern land...
To deep we delved there, and awoke the nameless fear...

Through the ages, their faces,
And their hearts filled with greed.
They delve down, to the mountain,
For the bounty they need.
They had brought light, to the darkness,
As their steel met their foes.

Onward, so blindly they go,
What lies in the dark, no-one knows.

They conquer, and plunder,
Dig the deepest of mines.
As they slumber, hear the thunder,
What could stir in the dark?
See the Mithril, all around them,
So they lust for its glow.

Deep in the mountains they go.
There’s a terrible evil that grows.

There’s a fire that burns, but still their hearts yearn,
For the fortune that cost them their lives.
Now we see our mistake, but I fear it’s too late,
In the depths, of the mountain great evil awakes.

We had dug down to deep, and awoke this great best.
Now we fight day and night for our lives.
But our great King lies slain, we have nothing to gain.
So that nameless terror became Durin’s Bane.

Now the light fades, and the darkness,
Like a cloud, fills the air.
A great evil, has arisen,
And awakes from it’s lair.
All the old scars, from the past wars,
And deep memories remain.

From the ruin of Angband it came,
A dark terror became Durin’s Bane.

It erupts out, from the cavern,
In a burst of bright flame.
Stil they stood there, so bravely,
Through the death and the pain.
But its power, was to great for,
The dwarves to control.

For a year they defended their halls.
Through greed, they shall finally fall.

As the great mansions burned, there’s a lesson to learn,
They have paid the ultimate price.
So they all share this fate, they had realized too late,
In the depths of the mountain, the demon shall wait.

We had dug down to deep, and awoke this great best.
Now we fight day and night for our lives.
But our great King lies slain, we have nothing to gain.
So that nameless terror became Durin’s Bane.

...And on the bridge, he stood alone...
...Fire and shadow, he defied...

...His staff did break, upon the stone...
...In Khazad-dûm, his wisdom...

...died.

They were falling, and fighting
Through the depths of the Earth.
Its an ancient, old grudge
That has found a new birth.
He would chase down his quarry
For eight days and nights.

Gladly he’d give up his life.
He has finally revealed his true might.

The battle continues
to the great endless stair,
To the top of the mountain,
where no man would dare.
And with one final strike,
he would throw down his foe

On the side of the mountain it fell.
The great evil sent back down to hell.

As the great mansions burned, there’s a lesson to learn,
They have paid the ultimate price.
So they all share this fate, they had realized too late,
In the depths of the mountain, the demon shall wait.

We had dug down to deep, and awoke this great best.
Then we fought day and night for our lives.
But our great King was slain, there was no more to gain.
So this nameless terror became Durin’s Bane.
