Frodo was a friend of mine
Though the tale goes for miles ...
It takes the help of a couple of friends
And a seat by the fireside ...

High as Heaven ... deep as hell ...
No tongue had ever hoped to tell it alive;
Friends should never say goodbye.

A fire burns in the cracks of Doom
I can still close my eyes ...
With little Rosie by my hand
I can push it all aside ...

But in the silence ... in between ...
I wake up twisted in the sheets of my night;
Friends should never say goodbye.

Frodo sailed with a fisted hand
I was watching from the ground ...
All the visions we ever shared
Were all around me ...

On his way across that sea ...
I tried so hard to stay the rain from my eyes;
Friends should never say goodbye ...
Friends should never say goodbye ...
Friends should never say goodbye.
